The Canada government has announced new increases in permanent residence and citizenship application fees, affecting Nigerians and other foreign nationals planning to relocate.
According to a notice from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the updated fees will take effect on April 30, 2026, as part of a routine adjustment aimed at maintaining service delivery and keeping up with inflation.
Under the new structure, the Right of Permanent Residence Fee will rise by $25, from $575 to $600. The Provincial Nominee Programme fee increases by $40, moving from $950 to $990. Business Class applications will jump by $85 to $1,895, while Family Class applications increase by $25 to $570.
Fees for Protected Persons and Humanitarian and Compassionate applications will also rise by $25 to $660. Permit Holders will pay $390, up by $15, while the Right of Citizenship fee increases slightly from $119.75 to $123.
IRCC noted that permanent residence fees are reviewed every two years under immigration regulations to offset program costs and respond to growing demand. The new rates will apply to all applications received on or after April 30, 2026.
