'INVEST MORE IN GIRL CHILD', ADEKUNLE SOYOMBO FOUNDATION CHARGES GOVT, PRIVATE ORGANISATIONS

Government at all tiers and private organisations in Nigeria have been urged to pay more attention to the development of the girl child by investing in them, especially as it concerns education.

The Adekunle Soyombo foundation, ASF gave this admonition while speaking in commemoration of this year's international day of the girl child.

Speaking through its chairman, Mr Adekunle Soyombo, the foundation said this year's theme, "Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being", means so well looking at the pivotal roles played by women in the society.

According to him, "the roles of women as wives, mothers and children can not be underestimated as they have proved at all times as the backbone of ever family unit, that they can cope at any level even with their domestic roles as wives and mothers".

"Our country must invest in them and protect their rights to create great leadership in them. Any nation who protects it's girl child no doubt is protecting its society," he said.

Mr Soyombo advised that educating the female child must be taken seriously, while laws must be enacted to protect female against violenc, incidents of rape and other vices.

He also promised to continue to use the ASF to support and protect the interests of the female child in the society.
