The ancient town of Gbongan in Osun State, southwest Nigeria, is set to witness the conferment of chieftaincy titles on an illustrious son of the soil, Chief Reuben Adediran and his wife, Chief Mrs Idowu Adediran on November 23, 2023.
According to the official announcement, from the palace of the Olufi of Gbongan Land, HRM Oba (Dr) Adetoyese Oyeniyi Odugbemi 1, the Chieftaincy Title of Bobare of Gbonganland would be conferred on Chief Reuben Adediran, and the the title of Yeye Bobare of Gbonganland on his wife, Chief Mrs Idowu Adediran, by 10:00 am at his Palace in the Aiyedaade Local Government Area of Osun State.
Chief Reuben Adediran who was born on 14th December, 1945 into the family of Chief Samuel Adediran and Madam Racheal Adediran at Owoope Compound, Gbongan, being the Son of the First Baba Ijo of St. John's Anglican Church, Gbongan, enjoyed a humble and respectable family background.
He started his career at the then Energy Commission of Nigeria, ECN and later worked with Lever Brothers Nig Plc, before joining SCOA Nig Plc where he retired to become the Managing Director of Vassacon Ventures Ltd.
He became the president of Gbongan Progressive Union, Lagos Branch (2010-2014) during which period the annual budgeting and funds collection system improved significantly. This facilitated the building of Gbongan Recreation Centre, Remedial Programmes for the youths in Gbongan and the award of scholarship to undergraduate in Gbongan by eminent sons and daughters.
Chief Adediran is a successful Businessman, contractor and Philanthropist while his wife, Chief Mrs Adediran is currently the Head of Language Department at Ikosi, Senior High School, Ikosi, Ketu, Lagos.
