Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has asked all his 35 colleagues to go into self-isolation immediately.
Fayemi, who is the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, said he had undergone the coronavirus test having been exposed to two persons who had tested positive for COVID-19.
recall that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; and the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday and have been quarantined.
Bala and Kyari had contact with governors and ministers recently at the National Executive Council and Federal Executive Council meetings.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Fayemi wrote, “I just took the COVID-19 test having gone into self-isolation since yesterday evening. I’m asymptomatic and feel well but I was in meetings with two people who had since tested positive.
“I look forward to an all clear and I have encouraged all my colleagues to take the test.”

A Paskistani Doctor who spent the past weeks screening and treating coronavirus patients in the Middle East country, has reportedly died of the disease.
American-Pakistani activist @_SJPeace_, said the doctor identified as Usama Riaz knew there was no Personal protective equipment (PPE), but he persisted in treating patients with coronavirus.

Brig.-Gen. Shuaib Ibrahim, the Director-General (DG), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has said that the Batch ‘A’ corps members will resume orientation camp as soon as the coast is clear over Covid-19.
Shuaib told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that the corps members must be safeguarded first.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NYSC had shut the orientation camps nationwide, sequel to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
He said the management of NYSC decided to suspend the orientation camps against batch ‘A’ corps members across the country to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
The director-general said that it was the same method the scheme employed during the Ebola epidemic which also threatened the health of the nation.
Shuaib further said that the scheme had closed orientation camps across the country to safeguard the corps members.
He stated that once the coast was cleared on Covid 19 pandemic, had been properly tackled, and there was signal on the safety of the Batch ‘A’ corps members the camp would reopen.
“Once we have a clear picture that Covid 19 has been tamed and we are okay then we will invite the corps members back to camp to complete their orientation training.
“That is the decision we have taken; it is just for the concern for the welfare of the corps members,” he said.
He said that the NYSC had also keyed into the postponement of the National Sports Festival, billed to begin on March 22 in order to safeguard the corps members.
NAN reports that the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Sunday Dare, had earlier said that the NYSC orientation and the National Sports Festival had been cancelled.
This according to the Minister is to forestall the spread of Covid 19.

Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua, on Tuesday, declared that coronavirus, which has caused worldwide panic will vanish before the end of March 2020.
“The noise of coronavirus would be silenced before the end of March 2020”, T.B Joshua said.
The cleric, however, warned that the effect will be felt worldwide throughout the rest of the year.
T.B. Joshua made the statements while answering several questions related to the coronavirus outbreak on his official Facebook Page.
He described the unprecedented situation as a “test of faith”, which Jesus Christ hinted at in his prayer that Simon Peter’s faith would not fail.
TB Joshua said he didn’t see anything to panic about as God’s promise for believers would be for them to overcome.
“Real faith thrives on a test. If there was nothing serious in the past to test our faith, here is something to test our faith in a unique way – a real situation”
“I say again, it is the remnants we are seeing. The real coronavirus is gone. But what the coronavirus has caused – economic backlash, fear – will linger until the end of the year,” he predicted.

The Permanent Secretary of the State’s Ministry of Health, Dr Kabir Musptapha told newsmen during a briefing, that the patient who is presently on self isolation returned from Malaysia and developed symptoms that warrants further investigations.
He further disclosed that the patient’s samples have been taking and that results were being expected by tomorrow adding that contact tracing will commence as soon the test results are out
He said ‘’the ministry is taking all precautionary measures and closely working with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on the matter’’.
According to him, the patient’s history of travel was a high index and the symptoms reported at the clinic prompted actions noting that since his arrival into the state, the patient was taken into personal protection by using face mark and self isolation, TheNation report.
He advised people of the host community of Dutsinma town to be cautious of movements and gatherings saying that people should feel free to seek medical attention as all precautionary measures are in place to provide medical support.
Nigeria is increasingly exposed to the deadly coronavirus.
That is the stark reality that confronted Nigerians on Wednesday as government responded with a massive travel ban on 13 countries, including the USA and United Kingdom and suspended visas on arrival policy.
Five new cases of coronavirus just confirmed in Nigeria by the Federal Ministry of Health were imported from the USA and United Kingdom, increasing the cases in Nigeria from three registered in Lagos to eight nationally.
Three of the confirmed cases, two of them Nigerians, a mother and her six-week old baby arrived from the US. Another two cases, all Nigerians arrived from the UK, PMnews report.

The first index case of the virus is an Italian from Milan.
Hence, the Federal Government announced entry restriction for travellers from the US, Italy and the UK.
Other countries affected are China, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, Norway, Netherlands and Switzerland.
These are all countries with over 1,000 cases domestically.
“The Federal Government is temporarily suspending all visas issued to nationals from these countries. Nigerians arriving from these countries will be subjected to supervised isolation for 14 days.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria is also advising all Nigerians to avoid travel to these countries.
“These restrictions will come into effect from Friday 20 March 2020 for 4 weeks subject to review”, said Boss Mustapha, secretary to the Government of the Federation, who also chairs the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19.
The Federal Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced five new cases of COVID19 in Nigeria, bringing the total number confirmed cases in Nigeria to 8.
All five cases had a travel history to the UK/USA.
