2027: PDP, APGA, ACCORD PARTY BACK TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION BID — APC CHAIRMAN

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Accord Party are backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.

Yilwatda made the disclosure on Tuesday after meeting with Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, alongside the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

The meeting was convened to brief the President on preparations for the APC’s presidential campaign flag-off scheduled for Saturday, October 24, in Kaduna.

According to Yilwatda, the alleged support from opposition parties that had previously defeated the APC in elections demonstrates the growing political backing for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

“If you look at what the party is doing now, the oppositions are with us. All political parties that have defeated us in any election are all with us; PDP is with us, APGA is with us, Accord Party with us,” the APC chairman said.

He added that the reported alignment of the parties had strengthened the APC’s preparations for the campaign launch.

Yilwatda also declared that preparations for the flag-off were complete, adding that party members, state chapters and campaign committees were ready for nationwide mobilisation.

“For now, everything is set; the preparation is on, the members are motivated, the states, the committees are ready, and everything that is supposed to be done has been done,” he said.

APC Promises Issue-Based Campaign

Speaking separately, Yari said the APC Presidential Campaign Council would campaign for Tinubu’s re-election by highlighting the administration’s policies, programmes and achievements rather than engaging in personal attacks against political opponents.

The former Zamfara State governor said the party intended to run what he described as a responsible campaign, allowing Nigerians to assess the government’s record before deciding whether to grant it another mandate.

“As a Council, what we say we are going to do? We are going to do a campaign with the records. A responsible campaign, no insults, no calling of names because there’s no name before us, but we have a record before us to show to Nigerians,” Yari said.

He urged voters to examine the administration’s performance and consider continuity when deciding the country’s political leadership in 2027.

“This is what our party did, this what our government did, so because of that, we are asking, pleading Nigerians to look at this record carefully so that they give us a second chance for continuity,” he added.

The planned Kaduna campaign launch follows the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on October 14.

Tinubu chairs the council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and Yilwatda serving as vice chairmen, while Yari is responsible for its day-to-day coordination as director-general.

However, Yilwatda’s claim of opposition-party backing was not independently established in the statements provided.
