The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that six passengers died while 23 others were injured in a road crash along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, near the Four Square Camp.
According to FRSC Public Relations Officer Odunsin Afolabi, the incident occurred around 11:27 a.m., involving a trailer (DAF CF 380, SNA 287 XA). Rescue teams from the Ogunmakin Unit arrived within two minutes.
Afolabi attributed the crash to fatigue and speeding, which caused the driver to lose control. He also cautioned against mixed loading of passengers and cattle, a common practice that complicates emergency response and increases fatalities.
The injured and deceased were taken to Oreoluwa Hospital (GOFAMINT Camp, Ogunmakin) and Victory Hospital, Ogere.
The FRSC urged all motorists, especially commercial vehicle operators, to regularly service their vehicles, maintain safe speeds, and follow road safety rules, warning that negligence on expressways can be deadly.
