Global power and influence took the spotlight as Nigerian billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote and U.S. President Donald Trump secured spots on TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026, reinforcing their enduring roles in shaping global business and political landscapes.
Released on April 15, the prestigious list celebrates individuals driving conversations and change across politics, business, technology, and culture. Dangote and Trump appeared alongside global heavyweights like Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, Mark Carney, and Pope Leo XIV, as well as tech leaders Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan.
Dangote, listed in the Titans category, stands as the only Nigerian featured this year—though Africa had a strong showing. Other honourees from the continent include Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Precious Matsoso, Anok Yai, Mamadou Amadou Ly, and Zabib Musa Loro, highlighting Africa’s growing influence across multiple sectors.
This marks Dangote’s second appearance on the TIME100 list, following his first recognition in 2014. More than a decade later, his return underscores a rare consistency in global impact and leadership.
As the founder of Africa’s largest indigenous industrial conglomerate, Dangote has led transformative investments in cement, sugar, fertiliser, agriculture, infrastructure—and now energy.
