The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to deport at least 79 Nigerians listed among the “worst-of-the-worst” criminal immigrants in the country.
According to DHS findings released Monday, the Nigerians were convicted of crimes including fraud, drug trafficking, assault, manslaughter, and robbery. The arrests are part of the US crackdown on criminal immigrants under President Donald Trump’s immigration policy.
A DHS note highlighted:
“Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst, including the illegal aliens you see here.”
The list includes names such as Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Solomon Wilfred, among many others.
The deportations, which involve house-to-house enforcement raids, have sparked panic, debate, and protests across the US. Some Nigerians have reportedly gone into hiding, while others are returning home secretly to avoid detention.
This move reflects the Trump administration’s intensified crackdown on criminal and illegal immigrants, particularly high-profile offenders.
