The Nyesom Wike–aligned faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially scheduled its national convention for March 28–29, 2026, in Abuja, where it will elect a new National Working Committee (NWC) and other statutory organs.
The announcement followed the faction’s 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday. A communique signed by National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu also outlined the timetable for party congresses nationwide:

The NEC extended the tenure of the current caretaker committees at national, state, and zonal levels and directed the immediate activation of convention sub-committees to ensure a transparent, inclusive, and credible process.
This development comes after a Federal High Court ruling in Ibadan nullified the PDP’s November 2025 convention that elected Taminu Turaki, affirming that the Mohammed–Anyanwu Caretaker Committee remains the legally recognised NWC. Justice Uche Agomoh barred Turaki and his officials from acting as national officers.
Speaking at a Board of Trustees meeting, BoT Chairman Mao Ohuabunwa described the PDP as at a defining moment, calling for unity over personal ambition. Mohammed thanked Wike for backing the caretaker committee, saying the support strengthened the party’s determination to reposition and rebuild.
The Wike-aligned PDP faction emphasized discipline, adherence to court rulings, and readiness for a seamless convention to elect legitimate leadership.
