Popular Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa has been arrested and is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged abuse of the naira.
The actress was picked up by operatives of the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the circulation of a viral video on social media.
In the video, Inuwa was seen using naira notes to wipe mucus from her nose, an act that sparked widespread outrage online and drew the attention of the anti-graft agency.
Confirming the arrest, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said the viral clip triggered immediate action by the Commission. He explained that EFCC operatives tracked down the actress after the video gained traction online and arrested her for questioning over the alleged mutilation of Nigeria’s currency.
Oyewale disclosed that Inuwa is currently being detained at the EFCC facility while investigations are ongoing, adding that she will be charged to court once the probe is concluded.
