2027: "ADEBUTU WILL PRIORITISE STABLE ELECTRICITY AFTER DEFEATING YAYI, OTHERS" - ADEOYE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency II in the forthcoming 2027 election, Hon. Adeoye Adewale Adeniran (A3), has said the administration of the party's governorship candidate, Chief Oladipupo Adebutu, would make reliable electricity one of its top priorities to stimulate economic growth, industrial development and improve the standard of living of the people of Ogun State.

Adeoye stated this while addressing party members and supporters in Abeokuta, where he urged them to remain steadfast and conduct issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, electricity remains one of the greatest developmental challenges facing Ogun State, stressing that no economy can achieve sustainable growth without stable power supply.

"Our campaign must remain focused on issues that matter to the people. We must not descend into abusive politics or exchange insults with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Elections should be about ideas, competence and practical solutions. As the saying goes, no one can defeat a pig in its natural habitat by joining it in the mud," he said.

Speaking on the PDP's development agenda, he said it is clear that the ruling party is bereft of ideas, thus Adeoye stated that improving electricity supply is one of the key programmes of the Oladipupo Adebutu administration if elected.

He said "I now understand why our gubernatorial candidate, Chief Oladipupo Adebutu, has been distributing transformers across Ogun State. It is not just about donating transformers, it is about strengthening electricity distribution infrastructure and ensuring that more communities have access to reliable power.

"When I listen to him explain his vision for Ogun State, I see genuine passion and commitment. His determination to improve the lives of our people and build a modern, prosperous state is evident. He understands that without electricity, businesses cannot thrive, industries cannot expand and young people cannot fully realise their potential."

Adeoye noted that recent reforms in Nigeria's electricity sector have created new opportunities for states to play more active roles in electricity generation, distribution and regulation.

"Today, states have greater opportunities to partner with private investors, establish independent power projects, promote renewable energy, encourage embedded generation and improve electricity supply through strategic investments. Ogun State is well positioned to take advantage of these opportunities because of our industrial strength and strategic location.

"The PDP government had done it before with the mini-power plant at Oke-mosan and we saw the impact. I have no doubt that an Adebutu administration will explore every lawful opportunity to improve electricity supply for our people. Stable electricity is not a luxury, it is the foundation of economic development."

The PDP House of Assembly candidate said improved electricity would have far-reaching benefits for entrepreneurs, artisans, manufacturers and households across the state.

"Our small businesses spend enormous amounts every month buying petrol and diesel just to keep generators running. Welders, hairdressers, tailors, printers, ICT operators, frozen food sellers and many other entrepreneurs are struggling because of high energy costs.

"When electricity improves, production costs will reduce, businesses will become more profitable, investors will have greater confidence in Ogun State and more jobs will be created for our youths."

Adeoye added that better electricity would equally improve healthcare delivery, education and agricultural processing across the state.

"Our hospitals need reliable electricity to operate medical equipment effectively. Our schools need stable power for digital learning, while agro-processing industries require affordable electricity to add value to agricultural produce. Every sector of the economy depends on power."

Adeoye also known as A3 maintained that the PDP is presenting practical solutions rather than empty promises, insisting that Ogun deserves leadership with a clear understanding of the relationship between infrastructure and economic development.

"I believe Chief Oladipupo Adebutu has the vision, capacity and commitment to transform Ogun State. His plans for electricity will not only improve the quality of life of our people but will also make Ogun one of the most attractive destinations for investment and industrial growth in Nigeria.

Adeoye in his words said "I therefore call on the people of Ogun State to support leaders who are presenting workable ideas for the future. Together, we can build a state where businesses flourish, industries grow, young people have opportunities and every community enjoys the benefits of reliable electricity."
