Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has disclosed that she rejected several lucrative offers, including opportunities connected to politics, that could have easily made her a billionaire.
The actress made the revelation while speaking on the Afropolitan podcast, where she explained that she repeatedly turned down financially rewarding opportunities because accepting them would have required her to compromise her principles and convictions.
According to Omotola, some of the offers were not inherently wrong, but she became uncomfortable with the possibility that accepting them could gradually undermine the values and message she represents.
“If I wanted to be a billionaire, I would have been one easily,” she said, noting that there were several occasions when she could have accepted substantial financial rewards without the public necessarily knowing.
She added that politics was among the areas where she faced such opportunities.
“I have been in situations where no one would have known and I would have taken things and compromised my stance. But I would turn it down and walk away. Many times. Even in politics,” she said.
The actress acknowledged that rejecting such opportunities was not always easy, particularly when the offers did not initially appear to conflict with her beliefs.
“Sometimes, I am tempted to compromise because they don’t appear bad, but I would still walk away eventually. Because in the long run, it will dilute my message,” she explained.
Omotola further revealed that whenever she loses out on major financial opportunities because of her refusal to compromise, she often experiences what she described as a financial miracle.
The actress said her decision to prioritise her convictions over wealth has remained central to how she navigates both her career and public life.
