The National President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, has declined to respond to allegations made against him by fellow actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha.
Baba Ijesha had accused Mr Latin of abandoning him after his release from prison, claiming that the TAMPAN president repeatedly ignored his attempts to reach him.
The actor made the allegations in a viral video recorded during a recent event in Ogun State, where he expressed disappointment over what he described as Mr Latin’s refusal to maintain contact with him after his release.
Baba Ijesha, who was released from prison in November 2025 after serving a sentence for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, said he had regarded Mr Latin as a close friend and brother.
According to him, he called Mr Latin more than 25 times after his release but received little response.
He said, “Mr Latin, my brother, you’re an opportunist; you just take opportunities as they come.
“I’ll shock all of you here tonight: when I was released from prison, I called my brother, Mr Latin, more than 25 times, and his response was, ‘Hello, I’m in a meeting.’ After that response, I laughed, and he even did it to my face one day.”
Baba Ijesha said he had expected Mr Latin to offer him accommodation or personally pick him up after his release, given their relationship.
He, however, said he believed Mr Latin was a good person who avoided confrontation.
He added that he did not consider Mr Latin’s alleged actions a personal offence, stressing that he was the one who initiated contact.
Baba Ijesha also warned Mr Latin against escalating the matter, saying he could confront him through their profession if the dispute continued.
“Nobody should talk about it, because it’s a matter between two brothers. But I need to warn him, Mr Latin, you need to calm down,” he said.
Mr Latin responds
When contacted by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Latin confirmed that he had seen the viral video and was aware of the allegations against him.
The TAMPAN president, however, declined to comment on the matter.
“I saw the video, but I have no comment or reaction to it,” Mr Latin said.
Baba Ijesha remains in public spotlight
Baba Ijesha has remained in the public eye since his release from prison and subsequent inclusion on the Lagos State Sex Offenders Register.
The actor has made appearances with several prominent Nigerians, including the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
He also recently welcomed a baby boy with his wife, fashion entrepreneur Abiodun Tokunbo, Chief Executive Officer of Luminee Couture.
The couple's announcement in June generated significant attention on social media, particularly because they had not previously spoken publicly about their relationship.
