Nollywood filmmaker and actor Femi Adebayo has announced December 4, 2026, as the release date for the highly anticipated sequel to his Yoruba epic film, Jagun Jagun, titled Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors.
Adebayo disclosed the release date on his official Instagram page, confirming that the blockbuster sequel would premiere exclusively on Netflix.
The announcement comes three years after the original film, Jagun Jagun: The Warrior, premiered in 2023 and attracted significant attention for its portrayal of Yoruba culture, traditional warfare, royal intrigues and fierce struggles for power.
Teasing the storyline of the sequel, Adebayo wrote: “Even in his absence, his name remained a curse whispered behind closed doors.
“Some men are made by war. Others are the reason kingdoms learn to fear it.
“JAGUN JAGUN 2: WAR OF WARRIORS.
“ONLY ON NETFLIX DECEMBER 4, 2026.”
The announcement has heightened anticipation among Nollywood enthusiasts, particularly fans of the original production, which combined elaborate battle sequences, traditional costumes and political intrigue in a story of ambition, loyalty and revenge.
The first instalment follows Gbotija, a young man determined to become a formidable warrior, who joins the army of Ogundiji, a powerful and feared warlord.
However, his quest for greatness exposes him to the brutal realities of warfare, as he navigates a world defined by violence, shifting loyalties, personal ambition and revenge.
Produced by Femi Adebayo and directed by Tope Adebayo Salami and Adebayo Tijani, the original film featured an ensemble cast that included Lateef Adedimeji, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, Bukunmi Oluwasina, Bimbo Ademoye, Faithia Balogun, Muyiwa Ademola, Adebayo Salami and Mr Macaroni.
The film also earned industry recognition at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, winning Best Indigenous Language Movie (West Africa) and Best Costume Design.
Despite confirming the sequel’s title and release date, the filmmakers have yet to disclose its full storyline or officially announce the complete cast.
With its December premiere date now confirmed, Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors is poised to draw renewed attention to one of Nollywood’s notable Yoruba-language epic productions as audiences await the next chapter of its warrior saga.
