Nigeria’s Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman has sealed a blockbuster move from Atalanta to Atlético Madrid, with both clubs reaching a full agreement.
The 28-year-old winger has signed a long-term deal with the Spanish giants, keeping him at the Wanda Metropolitano until June 30, 2030. According to reports, Atlético will pay around €40 million (£47.5m) for the dynamic, right-footed attacker.
Lookman arrives in Spain with serious pedigree—most notably his iconic hat-trick that powered Atalanta to a historic Europa League triumph over Bayer Leverkusen in 2024. He has scored three goals in 19 appearances across competitions this season.
Born in London, Lookman’s journey has taken him from Charlton Athletic to Everton, then through Germany with RB Leipzig, plus Premier League loan spells at Fulham and Leicester City, before shining in Italy with Atalanta since 2022.
Atlético boss Diego Simeone has been pushing for attacking reinforcements following the departures of Giacomo Raspadori and Conor Gallagher, especially with striker Julián Álvarez currently on an 11-game La Liga goal drought.
All eyes now turn to Madrid as Lookman looks set to bring pace, flair, and goals to Simeone’s side.
