ABIKE SHUGAA REVEALS RIFT WITH TOYIN ABRAHAM OVER SUPPORT FOR FUNKE AKINDELE’S FILM

TikTok influencer Pelumi Olawuni, popularly known as Abike Shugaa, has detailed the circumstances that led to her fallout with Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham.

The controversy dates back to 2023 during the promotion of Abraham’s film Malaika, after Abike featured in the project. Speculation about a rift emerged when she was seen doing limited promotion for the movie, prompting accusations of ingratitude on social media.

In an over one-hour YouTube video released on Friday, Abike addressed the situation, linking the disagreement to her decision to promote another project by actress Funke Akindele, titled She Must Be Obeyed.

She claimed that her promotional work for Akindele had previously earned her $600 and $800 respectively for different campaigns, adding that she had earlier declined a similar offer to avoid conflict during Abraham’s Ijakumo project.

According to her, she eventually accepted to support Akindele’s project after observing Abraham herself promote another colleague’s film, Ada Omo Daddy, by Mercy Aigbe.

Abike said she informed Abraham before posting an unboxing video for Akindele’s project but was later met with anger after the content went public.

“I told Toyin Abraham about the unboxing video, but when I posted it, she sent me a long message, angry and cursing,” she said.

She also recounted her involvement in Ijakumo, stating she was paid N50,000 for her role and later felt sidelined after her scenes did not make the final cut. She further claimed she was paid N500,000 for her role in Malaika after spending weeks on set.

Abike alleged that Abraham warned her to delete promotional content related to Malaika and accused her of betraying trust, despite earlier discussions about promoting colleagues’ projects.

She also claimed the disagreement escalated beyond private communication, alleging threats to her career, although she said she had apologised during the fallout.

The latest disclosure adds further context to ongoing public discussions around tensions between Nollywood figures, particularly following recent social media exchanges involving Abraham and Akindele.
