Afrobeats singer Omah Lay, born Omah Stanley Didia, has opened up about relationship dynamics in the Nigerian music industry, describing the space as one filled with strong egos.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Nando Leaks podcast, the singer revealed that his personality makes it difficult for him to maintain a large circle of friends.
According to Omah Lay, he considers himself “weird” and does not seek external validation, which makes him comfortable keeping only a few close relationships with people who truly understand him.
He explained that while he is naturally calm and reserved, he also admits to having a large ego, which sometimes makes forming friendships challenging.
The singer noted that the Nigerian music scene is filled with strong personalities, adding that balancing confidence and humility can be difficult.
Omah Lay further stated that he consciously tries to remain humble at times, acknowledging that excessive ego can become a barrier to growth and progress.
