Tyson Fury has launched a blistering attack on Anthony Joshua, branding his fellow British heavyweight a “coward” and accusing him of “conning everybody” as negotiations for their long-awaited mega-fight descend into fresh uncertainty.
Fury’s explosive outburst came on Wednesday as a bitter dispute over the proposed venue threatened to derail the heavyweight showdown once again.
The fight appeared closer than ever to being finalised, but tensions reportedly escalated after Saudi organisers, Sela, expressed a preference for staging the blockbuster in the United States — a proposal that has met resistance from Joshua’s camp, which continues to favour a venue in the United Kingdom.
Taking his frustration directly to social media, Fury questioned why a deal had still not been completed.
“Joshua, where are you? Still no deal done. It’s getting quite tiring,” Fury said.
The former heavyweight champion then delivered his most savage accusation yet.
“The facts are that I feel like you’re being a coward. I feel like you don’t want the fight and you’re just conning everybody. I feel like you’ve been doing that for years,” Fury declared.
Fury insisted he had never placed restrictions on the proposed venue, claiming he was prepared to face Joshua anywhere the organisers chose.
“I’ve been down to fight in every location that’s been mentioned – England, Ireland, Vegas, New York, back to England, back to Ireland, back to New York,” he said. “I’ve said yep, yep, yep every single time with zero stipulations.”
With both fighters now approaching the latter stages of their careers, Fury demanded that Joshua stop delaying and finally agree to settle their long-running rivalry inside the ring.
“We’re both 37, 38 years old – let’s fight,” Fury said, while also taunting Joshua over their previous knockout defeats.
Joshua is coming off a second-round knockout victory over Kristian Prenga in July, although he was reportedly floored twice during the opening round.
Fury also returned to action in July, defeating Mariusz Wach before the 46-year-old retired in the seventh round.
Meanwhile, Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, has placed the pressure firmly on Joshua’s camp, insisting Fury has already agreed to the fight.
“Tyson has signed up for the fight and agreed to the fight,” Warren said. “He’s all good to go, just waiting for AJ.”
But despite Warren’s confidence, the venue remains a major stumbling block, with Fury recently teasing a potential showdown at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
According to Warren, however, Fury is prepared to fight wherever necessary.
“Tyson just wants to get on,” Warren said. “He said, ‘I don’t care where I’ll fight, whether it’s Wembley, New York, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man – I’ll fight him anywhere’. He doesn’t care.”
After years of failed attempts to make the all-British blockbuster happen, the Fury-Joshua showdown once again hangs in the balance.
The fight may be closer than ever — but with the venue dispute threatening to wreck the deal, Fury is now turning up the heat and demanding one thing from Joshua: SIGN THE DEAL AND FIGHT.
